About HarPURR Kitty Warrior
HarPURR was rescued from the outdoors when he was just 3 weeks old. His shero momma cat was frightened off (thankfully she and the rest of the litter were rescued later on), and when a Good Samaritan saw him in their yard, they scooped him up and contacted a local rescue. The rescue who had him initially felt they did not have the skill set to care for his needs, so they reached out to Mojo’s Hope. (MH is our Anchorage-based rescue for animals with special needs. On intake, he was taken to the vet and had x-rays done to determine what may have caused his paralysis. The X-rays showed the injury to his spine had healed entirely. The vet thought he might have been crushed during birth. However, even with his paralysis, his momma cat knew what a feisty, determined little man he was. For 3 weeks she cared for him outdoors, she knew he had the will to live. He came to our House of Mojo on August 27, 2018 and this is when his journey with us began!

Here is some background information on HarPURR if you’re new to him:
🐈⬛HarPURR was most likely paralyzed either before or during the birth process. This is what our vet determined. The area in his back that was injured was completely healed when he was found. This meant he would not be able to ever walk.
🐈⬛He was found outdoors in Alaska at 3 weeks old and came into our Mojo’s Hope program on 08/27/2018. His mom and the rest of his siblings were all later rescued too.
🐈⬛His momma cat took wonderful care of him, however it was evident he required medical care immediately. He had megacolon along with having no control of his bladder or bowels. Therefore I had to manually express/stimulate him 3 times a day on a strict schedule. He wore a diaper to protect his body from germs. The diaper fit him purrfectly.
🐈⬛HarPURR’s first best buddy was our purrecious Angel Cinder (husky RIL 10/07/2023). Now they are reunited across the Rainbow Bridge 🌈🖤.
🐈⬛HarPURR started using his first cart at 2 months old (October of 2018). His first set of wheels came from Handicapped Pets. That set of wheels lasted for almost two years and was able to be adjusted to grow with him. His last set of wheels were from Eddie’s Wheels, which he got back in 2020. It took HarPURR about a week with only positive steps for him to get used to his cart. He was very adaptable.
🐈⬛HarPURR used his cart every day for about an hour. That is it. The rest of the time he was out & about zipping around, climbing and doing everything “cat.” This was guidance from the specialists and our vet team. The cart was an additional resource for his mobility and it was something he truly enjoyed. Not all cats enjoy carts and you can read my disclosure about cats in carts.
🐈⬛His cart was customized for his needs based upon his weight and size. It is not heavy.
🐈⬛ His back legs were always protected by a cushioned bar when he was in his cart.
🐈⬛At 4 months old, HarPURR developed FLUTD and I was told he would not survive. Not only did he survive, he thrived for 7 more years. Another example of how he was a miracle.
🐈⬛HarPURR loved to roll on the concrete just like any other cat. Due to the fact he has rear paralysis he only did that in his cart to protect his legs.
🐈⬛HarPURR loved small tunnels, NOT big ones.
🐈⬛He was an indoor cat (yes I got this question), however he got to use our enclosed yard because he was in his cart. We support the use of catios, harnesses, strollers and in HarPURR’s case a cart.
🐈⬛HarPURR had an exercise wheel for his front legs that he started using all on his own at 4 weeks old. Just showed how intrinsically motivated he was. He was suPURR buff. I have them all around my house so he had one wherever he wanted to have a wheelie good time.
🐈⬛HarPURR loved to climb and he got to while supervised. He had his own room where he stayed while I was at work or out to ensure he stayed safe and sound. HarPURR’s safety and care was my #1 priority along with the rest of our clowder. I also purromised him that he would get to do everything cat and more. He surpassed expectations of so many, but I always knew he was a suPURRstar.
🐈⬛HarPURR’s birth date was 08/13/2018 and he was with us from when he was 3 weeks old until he was 7 years 6 months (Rest in LOVE 🌈🖤 2/20/26)
🐈⬛HarPURR was a cancer warrior (fought bladder cancer) and was diagnosed in September of 2022 with transitional cell carcinoma. The fact that he survived for so long and thrived was a miracle in itself.
🐈⬛HarPURR’s kidneys were already compromised and when he was diagnosed with CKD we did what we could to support his purrecious body but the disease progressed rapidly. I greatly appreciate the support from our vet team.
🐈⬛HarPURR earned his heavenly wings on 2/20/26 after a valiant battle with cancer, CKD, and megacolon.
🐈⬛HarPURR’s mission will continue as that is what my purrecious boy would want. His spirit purrsevering through time and space to ensure that he continues to insPURRire. Our purrever suPURRhero.
🐈⬛HarPURR’s children’s book was published and I am suPURR grateful that his story will be available to inspurrire others purrever.
🐈⬛HarPURR’s Coloring Book is available to purchase.
🐈⬛HarPURR’s Calendar is available to purchase.
